The Chickens
Now, let’s talk chickens. Here in East Texas, we live in the heart of chicken country. One day I was sitting in traffic behind a chicken truck. For the first time, I looked at the chicken. I mean, looked. They were half-feathered and covered in their feces. They looked sick, worn out, and half dead. Is that what I’ve been putting on my children’s plates? I was shocked. How could I have allowed myself to become so conditioned to our current food system? This called for a radical change. I decided I was taking back control of my food. I am dedicated to providing a way for YOU to regain your health.
Here at Ancient Acres Farms, we have started the process of being the FIRST in our surrounding area to offer pastured poultry and eggs on a large scale that is USDA-certified. We have abundant acres of cleared pasture that we will run our chickens on, and more land is expected to be cleared soon. Our chickens can free-range all day and roost safely at night in mobile chicken tractors. Bright and early, we give them ample space to roam around with our top-of-the-line portable fencing. We will hook up our chicken tractors daily and move them to fresh, clean grass to minimize manure build-up. This will allow the chickens to stay clean and fertilize the pasture for a more nutritious return.
Our girls will be the cream of the crop and will NEVER be given drugs or antibiotics. We will also provide them with organic, non-GMO feed to nibble on while they bask in the fresh outdoors. Our feed will have corn and soy, but if we have a customer who would like to put in an order for a special grow-out of birds with no corn or soy, we can accommodate. Our mission is to provide the community with real food. Allowing chickens to experience a natural life of free-ranging on green grass and eating bugs will eliminate any need for unnecessary meddling.

Welcome to Ancient Acres Farms. With growing concerns about what is in (and what is not) in the food we buy at grocery stores, here at Ancient Acres Farms, we are creating a safe space for people to buy real food with complete transparency.
Let’s talk about produce. Did you know that most food you buy at stores is genetically modified? Have you ever wondered what GMOs are? Is it safe? GMO stands for “genetically modified organism.” To create a GMO, there’s a change of specific characteristics using lab techniques to delete or alter particular sections of DNA from plants or animals. GMOs require massive amounts of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides. Have you ever researched the medical side effects of consuming produce that has been chemically sprayed? These foods can harbor unpredictable consequences for our bodies and the land. Is it even considered food anymore?
We are very aware and are taking a stand here at Ancient Acres. Our farm will be dedicated to taking care of the land using only polyculture techniques. Instead of stripping the land of its nutrients and ecosystem by plowing, we are practicing a “no-till” technique that will add vital nutrients to our produce to provide you with the highest quality food you deserve. Our produce will be organic and non-GMO. We will never spray our land with harmful chemicals or pesticides.
